Craig Squire: Strategy, Innovation and Commercialisation

BA, LLB, PGCertCE

My initial background was in legal (a lawyer for 9 years) and investment banking (5 years). When I returned to New Zealand from the UK in 2007 I became involved in a range of businesses, both as an executive, and as an owner, including a tech start up, property investor, and solar PV importer and installer. I'm an active participant in the NZ and International capital markets, and have experience with private equity in NZ and Australia. In 2010, I assisted Bluestone Capital Management in its diligence pre-acquisition of a number of NZ distressed loan portfolios.
In more recent years, I've been involved in the NZ start up community as an investor, independently and with Auckland's Ice Angels. This ultimately led me to undertaking the Auckland Business School's Masters in Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship course.
My interests are in all aspects of business generally, with a particular focus on the value creating requirements of what business needs to do to grow and make stronger decisions. I consider myself a useful sounding board for business owners, and am happy to operate at a high strategic level or get involved in the finer detail, as needed.
